Operation Not Allowed

Return To Main FAQ

If your XTV box says "Network Cable OK and "Internet OK" yet pressing launch XTV displays "Operation not allowed", you should try the fix listed here.

If you have already tried this procedure please try it again as data on our servers has changed as of 6/4/05.

1. Unplug the power supply from your XTV box.
2. Ensure the video cables from your XTV box to your Television set are properly connected.
3. Ensure the Ethernet cable from your modem/router to your XTV box is properly connected.
4. Plug the power supply to the XTV box
5. Wait while the box initializes. You will see color bars and a series of checks.

Make sure it passes the network cable "ok" check and Internet "ok" check.
If the box does not pass the Internet check make sure your box has the orrect network settings.

DO NOT PRESS LAUNCH XTV.

6. After both checks show "ok", using the down arrow on your XTV remote select "Update XTV". You will see a message stating your software is the current version. Hit OK on your XTV remote and the box will download the new update files.

7. After the new files download you will be prompted to press OK to continue with the update. Press OK on your XTV remote. The box will then update and power cycle.

8. Wait while the box initializes and passes the network cable "ok" check and Internet "ok" check. You should now be able to launch XTV.
